Saas-Fee joined the Climate Alliance on 26 April 2024.
True to the mission statement "For local answers to the global climate crisis", Saas-Fee, together with almost 2,000 member municipalities from more than 25 European countries, is now committed to comprehensive climate protection. Climate Alliance municipalities stand for a fair, nature-friendly, local, resource-conserving and diverse approach to climate protection. They are committed to climate justice in partnership with indigenous peoples of the rainforest and pledge to continuously reduce their greenhouse gas emissions with the aim of reducing them by at least 95% by 2050, in line with the demands of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Members of the Climate Alliance receive support in implementing climate protection measures and benefit from the network's many years of experience. The Climate Alliance also provides tools for CO2 monitoring and campaigns on topics such as mobility, renovation, climate justice and educational work. The network also promotes the interests of member municipalities at national and European level.
On 20 and 21 April, the first test ride for locals and tourists took place, combined with the small opening of the new Hannig Restaurant. This event marked a significant moment for the region and gave guests the opportunity to experience both the latest gastronomic offerings and the improved transport options.

In a constant endeavour to expand the tourist offer and increase the attractiveness of the region, Saas-Fee/Saastal and Brig Simplon are pleased to announce an innovative addition to their hiking portfolio: the alpine hut hike from Saas-Fee through the Zwischbergental to Domodossola.
The 2022/23 financial year ended successfully with a total of 1.22 million overnight stays. However, the most significant result is due to the implementation of important projects such as securing the SaastalCard product for the next four years, the realisation of the e-bus concept and the further development of the mountain bike product.
